About Fran Christie

Fran Christie is the Creator and Founder of SmartKids SmartParents®, a dedicated financial literacy website for kids.

As a Baby Boomer she cherishes the memories of a simpler time, where financial worries didn’t cloud her childhood, not because her family was affluent, but because life was uncomplicated back then.

In hindsight, Fran realized that her upbringing lacked essential money management skills, and she recognized the absence of financial education in her early years. The curriculum of her time simply did not include these critical life skills. She had to learn how to navigate the complex world of finances through trial and error, just like many others of her generation.

Despite the passage of time, not much has changed when it comes to financial education. In most cases, learning how to handle money is still not an integral part of the education system, and families around the world continue to grapple with financial challenges.

Fran’s passion for financial education goes beyond the mere acquisition of money. She sees money as a vital tool in life but not the sole one. How individuals manage their finances contributes significantly to their character and the stability of their households.

SmartKids SmartParents® is an advocate for financial literacy catering children & adults of all ages and backgrounds. Fran is committed to the success of families, promoting family values and well-being. Her vision is to create a world where parents can be free of financial burdens, allowing their children to enjoy a safe, happy and carefree childhood.

Fran is passionate about empowering families to secure a brighter future and fostering a sense of security and happiness in the lives of both parents and children.

Understanding Money Types

The concept of psychological archetypes was originally advanced by Carl Jung, the father of modern psychology. In Jung’s psychological framework, archetypes are innate, universal prototypes that are highly useful for interpreting observations or behaviors that are largely unconscious.
They represent patterns of behavior or ideas that have are part of the “collective unconscious”. The collective unconscious is also known as “the vast reservoir of our experience as a species.” Archetypes are the original language of human beings. They are symbolic. Before we had words, or language, we had symbols, which are what archetypes represent.

Your money archetypes are not your personality or “who you are”, but are symbolic metaphors that help us to understand our patterns and behaviors. Simply stated, they show us “where we are” so that we can become aware of, and change our unconscious behaviors. Archetypes are powerful “teachers” and “allies” since they inform us of where we need to grow.

The eight Money Types or archetypes in Money Coaching are:

  • Innocent
  • Victim
  • Warrior
  • Martyr
  • Fool
  • Creator/Artist
  • Tyrant
  • Magician
